Under general supervision performs routine clinical and administrative duties as well as operates specialized X-ray equipment to capture diagnostic images of specific body parts as directed by providers, focusing on a defined scope of practice.
Essential Functions:
Completes diagnostic x-rays for patients within the scope of practice for Limited Scope X-ray Operator certification. (20%)
Prepare patients for radiologic procedures and protect patients, self and other staff from radiation hazards. (20%)
Position patients and take X-ray of specific parts of the patients? body as requested by the physician. (20%)
Take X-rays following established procedures for patient care and safety, which involves setting up and operating radiographic equipment used in the medical diagnosis and/or treatment of patients. (20%)
Accurately and efficiently takes vital signs and basic historical patient data. Identifies abnormal patient findings. Communicates patient concerns or significant changes in patient?s health status to provider or RN. (10%)
Assists provider in setting up for procedures including aseptic and sterile techniques; provides safe administration of medications and immunizations (oral, IM, subcutaneous, and/or intradermal); obtains EKGs, orders appropriate tests as directed by provider; and schedules specialty and follow-up appointments as directed by provider. (5%)
Prepares patients for examinations, assists with examinations, cast or splint applications, minor procedures a variety of other medically related tasks within their scope of knowledge. (5%)
Education:
Certificate Program Graduate from an accredited program in Medical Office Assisting Required and
Completion of American Registry of Radiologic Technician (ARRT) recognized Limited Scope X-ray Operator training program Required and
PCDPHE Limited Scope Operators License to be acquired within 6 months of start date based on State of Colorado Statute. Preferred

Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
LSO-Limited Scope Operator - CDPHE - Colorado Department of Public Safety
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of medical office practice.
Knowledge of examination, diagnostic, and treatment room procedures.
Knowledge of and the ability to use medical equipment and instruments to administer patient care.
Knowledge of common safety hazards and precautions to establish a safe work environment.
Skill in assisting in a variety of treatments as directed.
Skill in taking vital signs.
Skill in maintaining records and recording test results.
Skill in establishing and maintaining effective working relationships with patients, employees, physicians and the public.
Ability to maintain quality control standards.
Ability to react calmly and effectively in emergency situations.
Ability to interpret, adapt and apply guidelines and procedures.
Ability to communicate clearly.
Bilingual skills preferred
Ability to learn and be proficient in electronic health record documentation.
Utilize equipment and technology safely to provide patient care, upon completion of training and competency for applicable clinical area.
