You Will Be Responsible For:
Coordinates the inpatient rehabilitation facility–patient assessment instrument (IRF-PAI) process according to State and Federal guidelines. Stays advised and implements all regulatory changes/updates related to the Federal Rule. Provides clinical patient intervention, as appropriate in order to ensure completions of the IRF-PAI and ensure each IRFPAI form is completely, accurately and timely transmitted to CMS and documented in the medical record.
Reviews medical records to assure that clinical documentation supports quality indicators. Confers with the clinical team members regarding the scoring of quality indicators to assist in resolution of any inconsistencies.
Reviews all Rehabilitation Impairment Categories and current International Statistical Classification of Diseases (ICD) admission codes to assure congruence and proper Coding for the IRF-PAI. Makes any necessary changes in collaboration with the clinical team and physician.
Acts as the primary resource for immediate problem-solving regarding Medicare's IRF prospective.
Acts as the primary resource for immediate problem-solving regarding Medicare's IRF prospective payment system (quality indicators, impairment group coding, tiering distribution, coverage and classification criteria and quality reporting program requirements).
Sets prescribed IRF-PAI completion dates for the interdisciplinary team and monitors outstanding accounts. Ensures all documentation by all health care professionals and physicians is completed in a timely manner and contains necessary components as required by regulatory bodies and payors.
Two years assessing and interpreting patient clinical and functional data in a hospital, outpatient, home health or skilled nursing facility (SNF) setting
Licensed in the State of Florida in a Health-related discipline (RN, OTA, OT, PT, PTA or ST)
CPR Certification
Broad clinical and regulatory knowledge of CMS guidelines for completion of the Inpatient Rehabilitation Patient Assessment Instrument
Job Summary:
The IRF PAI Coordinator coordinates the data collection on the Inpatient Rehabilitation Facility Patients Assessment Instrument (IRF-PAI). In collaboration with managers ensures compliance with CMS guidelines regarding proper scoring and documentation to capture all necessary information required for the completion of the IRF-PAI. Transmits data to CMS utilizing the submission specifications timely and accurately.
