The Clinical Informaticist is responsible for assisting in the operation and administration of clinical information systems, collaborating with clinical and technical associates to enhance workflow methodology and tools. The Clinical Informaticist maintains an end-user centric focus when contributing to the system; this includes analysis, testing, documentation, education, evaluation, implementation, and optimization activities to enhance technology adoption and efficiencies that improve workflow and patient safety. The Clinical Informaticist provides continuous support to identify opportunities for clinical information system improvement. This position is exempt.
Responsibilities:
Collaborate with Clinical Informatics colleagues across the enterprise to drive strategic goals and vision for the department and CHRISTUS Health
Collaborate with Clinical Informatics colleagues to focus on standardized best practice workflow processes and clinical content to ensure alignment across all ministries, to create efficiencies and improve patient safety
Contribute to knowledge transfer and dissemination of best practices across the ministries with the use of information structures, information processes, and information technology
Assess clinicians for efficient and effective maximization of clinical information systems as it relates to patient care, user satisfaction, clinical productivity, and quality outcomes
Collaborate with Clinical Informatics colleagues in the development and/or revision of initiatives or programs related to data collection, retrieval, analysis, and interpretation to assist in optimizing patient outcomes and/or effectiveness and efficiency
Identify and implement improvement opportunities with workflow processes and clinical information systems as they relate to the practice of clinicians/providers
Provide end-user support to clinicians, using critical thinking and troubleshooting skills
Demonstrate effective communication and interpersonal skills when interacting with other people, both individually and in groups
Demonstrate sound understanding of clinical practice as it pertains to the integration of clinical information systems and impact on end users
Assist in reporting any identified EHR (Electronic Health Records) compliance issues/concerns at the Ministry level and escalate utilizing proper chain of command
Provide on-going end user clinical health information support with all upgrades, new releases, and enhanced functionality
Assist with communicating to clinical end users any system changes, new functionality, workflow process changes, and downtime procedures as they relate to the electronic medical record
Foster relationships with ministry leadership and departments such as Information Services, Quality, Case Management, Revenue Cycle, and Finance to ensure effective communication, to meet business and financial requirements
Work under minimal supervision
Elevate questions, problems, and significant challenges to more senior team members for direction or subject matter expertise on new or unprecedented assignments
Require minimal instruction on day-to-day work and detailed instructions on new assignments
Escalates operational problems and technical issues to senior team members and management
Makes decisions regarding own work on primarily routine cases
Set priorities, plans, and manages a diverse set of tasks
Provides effective customer service by being courteous, polite, and friendly
Participates in discovery visits and workflow reviews as part of pre-implementation activities
May be required to work long hours during critical problems
Responsible for other duties and special projects as assigned
Requirements:
Bachelor?s degree with a healthcare designation - or - 4 years of clinical experience with a clinical certification or licensure, in lieu of degree strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of clinical information systems, clinical informatics, data management and administration
Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office products
Excellent verbal and written skills, strong interpersonal skills, and the ability to work independently and as a member of a team
Preferred 1-3 years previous clinical informatics experience or equivalent
Valid Driver?s License
Clinical certification or licensure (i.e. RN, LVN, RT) strongly preferred
