SUMMARY OF POSITION:
The technologist will provide a detailed explanation of the procedure and answer any questions the patient may have prior to beginning the procedure. Acquisition and processing of Nuclear Medicine and PET/CT exams, perform quality control on all nuclear medicine related equipment both imaging and non-imaging and receive all incoming RAM packages. These packages will be documented and handled appropriately per regulation. The technologist will prepare and administer the appropriate radiopharmaceuticals following the department's procedure manual and record the necessary data. Imaging procedures will be performed as outlined in the procedure manual. Patient care will be delivered while ensuring patient safety practices and guidelines are met. All tasks performed will follow the ALARA principle to insure that levels of radiation exposure do not exceed those defined under ALARA and Federal/State agencies.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATION(S):
Must be registered or registry eligible by the Nuclear Medicine Technologist Certification Board (NMTCB) or registered by the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Nuclear (ARRT)(N) and registered or registry eligible in Nuclear Medicine.
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
