Job Summary: The Level 2 Data Center Facilities Analyst plays a crucial role in the maintenance and optimization of data center operations. This role involves advanced monitoring, troubleshooting, and management of data center infrastructure systems, including power, cooling, and security systems. The Level 2 Analyst also assists with project planning and implementation and serves as a mentor to Level 1 analysts. This position requires a deeper technical knowledge and experience in data center environments. Key Responsibilities: ? Advanced Monitoring and Maintenance: o Continuously monitor data center infrastructure systems including power distribution, cooling systems, and environmental controls. o Perform advanced inspections and preventive maintenance tasks on data center equipment. o Quickly respond to and resolve complex alerts and incidents related to data center facilities. ? Advanced Troubleshooting and Repairs: o Diagnose and troubleshoot advanced issues with power, cooling, and other data center systems. o Coordinate and oversee vendors and service providers during repairs and maintenance. o Implement solutions to prevent recurrence of facility-related issues, minimizing downtime and optimizing performance. ? Documentation and Reporting: o Maintain detailed records of equipment status, maintenance activities, and incident reports. o Oversee the documentation of data center layouts, cabling, and equipment inventories. o Generate and analyze regular reports on facility performance, incidents, and recommend improvements. ? Physical Security: o Ensure compliance with security policies and control access to the data center. o Implement and maintain advanced physical security measures, including surveillance systems and access controls. o Conduct and lead regular security audits and drills to ensure preparedness. ? Health and Safety: o Strictly adhere to all safety protocols and procedures while working in the data center. o Lead safety training and drills as required. o Identify, report, and mitigate potential safety hazards within the data center environment. ? Project Management and Implementation: o Assist in planning and executing data center expansions, migrations, and other projects. o Coordinate with IT and network teams to support the deployment and maintenance of server and network hardware. o Lead and support the Data Center Facilities Manager in implementing facility upgrades and improvements. ? Mentorship and Leadership: o Provide guidance and training to Level 1 analysts, helping them develop their skills and knowledge. o Act as a point of escalation for complex technical issues and incidents. o Foster a collaborative team environment and promote knowledge sharing.
Advancement to this level requires employee, at a minimum, successfully attain the following:
Qualifications: ? Education: Associate degree in facilities management, electrical engineering, or a related field; bachelor's degree preferred. ? Experience: 2-5 years of experience in data center operations, facilities management, or a related field. Technical Skills: ? Strong understanding of electrical systems, cooling systems, and data center infrastructure. ? Proficiency with data center monitoring tools and building management systems (BMS). ? Advanced ability to use hand tools and test equipment for maintenance tasks. ? Advanced familiarity with installing server and network hardware. Competencies: ? Problem-Solving: Ability to diagnose and troubleshoot complex issues effectively and efficiently. ? Attention to Detail: Maintain accuracy in documentation and reporting, and ensure all maintenance tasks are performed to high standards. ? Communication: Clear and effective communication skills, both written and verbal, for interacting with team members, vendors, and management. ? Teamwork: Ability to work collaboratively in a team environment and provide mentorship to junior analysts. ? Time Management: Efficiently manage time and prioritize tasks in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment. ? Adaptability: Flexibility to handle changing priorities, shifting schedules, and new challenges as they arise. Physical Requirements: ? Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. ? Ability to work in confined spaces and at heights. ? Willingness to work in a rotational shift environment, including nights, weekends, and holidays as needed. Preferred Qualifications: ? Experience with data center infrastructure management (DCIM) tools. ? Knowledge of industry standards and best practices for data center operations (e.g., Uptime Institute, ANSI/TIA). ? Relevant certifications in data center facilities management or related areas (e.g., CDCP, CDCS, BICSI).
