The Regional Operations/Project Consultant is the facilitator and project manager responsible for the successful planning, scheduling and completion of multiple operations improvement projects for the Greater Austin Region. This role facilitates and directs the work activities for project team staff members while ensuring the adoption of process improvements on a regional and/or system level to deliver significant operational improvement, financial benefit and enhanced patient satisfaction.
The Regional Operations/Project Consultant is responsible for stewarding the progress and deliverables of the project as the liaison between site operations, site senior management and the Enterprise Project Management Office (EPMO) leadership. The incumbent possesses the interpersonal skills and the ability to effectively engage senior leaders and is expected to work independently with ownership and accountability for regions and sites. In addition, this role collaborates and shares regularly with other EPMO team members to provide and receive guidance on projects and project management best practices.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF THE ROLE
Defines project scope, timelines and resources required to complete business objectives within time frame required. Includes quality control measures, reporting systems, and communication plan in project documentation.
Develops communication and continuous improvement training resources for region as needed.
Mentors and coaches leaders at all levels to drive PDCA (Plan, Do, Check, Act) thinking into all aspects of operations. Becomes a key leader in continuous improvement efforts and is seen as a leader in PDCA and other continuous improvement principles applied to healthcare. Expected to coach and frequently present to Chief and VP-level leaders.
Participates in performance improvement teams and provides facilitation and technical support to assist the teams including collection and analysis of data and documentation of results. Provides facilitation and/or guidance to redesign teams. May also serve as team leader or executive coach for process improvement and problem-solving teams.
Helps develop educational curriculum to train personnel on the use of specific process improvement and quality management tools and techniques. May assist in conducting additional sessions in support of the management development program of the sites.
Acts as project leader, coordinating and facilitating the work of a project team. Develops project approaches and prepares detailed work plans for the successful and timely completion of projects. Conducts research and other preparatory activity prior to initiation of projects to ensure best approaches and solutions to problems. Reviews and coordinates team member work plans. Informs manager of project status.
Provides decision support to administration, department directors, and managers to support planning and operational decisions. Optimizes and improves reports by determining the customer's needs and by collecting, organizing, and analyzing data.
Assists in analysis and lean layout workshops for facility needs to include workflow analysis, space programming and functional layout design. May apply simulation technology to the process.
Utilizes a systems approach to conduct operational analyses of organizational or departmental systems and processes. This includes deployment of advanced continuous improvement tools and workload balancing. Consults with management and/or team to design and implement operational improvement strategies and monitors the effectiveness.
Maintains regular communication with administration to identify and plan for upcoming organizational changes impacting operation efficiency.

EDUCATION - Bachelor's Degree or 4 years of work experience above the minimum qualification
