Job Summary
The Department of OB/GYN at Denver Health Medical Center (DHMC) seeks an enthusiastic and skilled Urogynecologist to join the OBGYN Urogynecology Division. The role involves providing clinical expertise and evidence-based high-quality care, surgical mentorship to junior faculty, contributing to research endeavors, fostering education for medical students, resident physicians and other learners in a collaborative environment. We seek candidates whose clinical experience, dedication to teaching, interest in research, or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to excellence.
About the OB/GYN department: DHMC is a teaching hospital located in the heart of Denver. It is a 525 -bed hospital with Trauma 1 level designation and level 3 Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). The department of OB/GYN provides full scope obstetric and gynecologic care through a collaborative integrated service model working with OB/GYN physicians, subspecialists, certified nurse midwives, and Family Medicine physicians. We deliver approximately 4,000 patients per year, which is nearly half of all births in the city of Denver. The GYN service provides comprehensive care performing over 1,300 inpatient and outpatient surgical procedures per year. We serve a diverse patient population where most of our patients identify as Hispanic/Latina, and our patients speak over 23 different languages.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead urogynecologic care within the OB/GYN Department at Denver Health under the guidance of departmental leadership.
Collaborate with OB/GYN leaders to enhance patient access, improve surgical care, and advance clinical research.
Direct clinical services, professional performance, and physician practice within the Urogynecology Division.
Cultivate relationships with key stakeholders, such as interventional radiology and urology teams, to enhance multidisciplinary patient care.
Maintain standards of excellence in urogynecology, ensuring adherence to performance metrics, patient safety protocols, and clinical outcome assessments.
Promote research, scholarly activities, and teaching initiatives within the Division, emphasizing medical student and resident education.
Maintain a faculty appointment at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, fostering collaboration and cross-coverage within an academic setting.
Academic affiliation and medical education: DHMC serves as one of the three clinical sites for the highly competitive University of Colorado OB/GYN residency program which trains 9 residents per year. In addition, DHMC is the clinical site for many medical programs including the University of Colorado School of Medicine, Nursing, Pharmacy, emergency medical services, and others. DHMC is formally affiliated with the University of Colorado, School of Medicine where all faculty have full-time academic appointments.
Qualifications:
MD/DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Completion of an OB/GYN Accredited Residency Program and relevant Urogynecologic and Reconstructive Surgery fellowship.
Board certification/board eligibility in OBGYN.
Medical license to practice in the State of Colorado.
Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification from the American Heart Association.
Excellent communication skills and ability to collaborate effectively in an inclusive environment.
