Job Summary:

JOB SUMMARY
Assists the pharmacist in the verification, preparation and distribution of medications independently. Verifies medications in accordance with state law and standards of practice. Manages work flow to maximize efficiency and quality considering workload priorities in the pharmacy.

Hours of Operation- Open 365 days

• Mon - Fri 4:30am-7:00pm
• Sat - Sun 4:30am-1:00pm

Technician Scheduling-

• Shift varies Mon-Fri-
  • 4:30am-1:00pm OR 7:00am-3:30pm
• Rotate every other weekend- 4:30am-1:00pm (subject to change)

• Rotate holidays- 4 on and 4 off then swap next year

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
* Assists the pharmacist in the preparation, dispensing and/or distribution of medications.
* Applies departmental processes regarding inventory control.
* Verifies medications in accordance with standards of practice.

TECHNICAL CAPABILITIES
* Drug Inventory & Records Management (Intermediate): Demonstrates proficiency in working with drug inventory and records management. Demonstrates ability to maintain and project appropriate inventory levels of medications. Able to collect, organize, and maintain appropriate pharmacy and patient related information. Able to successfully demonstrate inventory management skills of moderate difficulty. Has expertise in inventory rotation. cycle counting and lot number tracking. Effectively works with electronic databases/catalog.
* Training & Development (Novice): Has presented course modules as part of a program. Effectively prepared by demonstrating knowledge in course content, structure and objectives, as well as audience characteristics. Demonstrated audience sensitivity and awareness. Responded professionally to content questions.
* Pharmaceutical Quality Assurance & Compliance (Intermediate): Possesses knowledge of the appropriate rules and regulations and applies them in difficult, stressful and complex situations. Demonstrates advanced knowledge of process improvement, quality assurance and/or programs. Demonstrates a commitment to continuous quality improvement and maintains compliance with a federal, state and local regulations as well as organizational policies and procedures.
* Pharmaceutical Drug Preparation, Dispensing & Distribution (Expert): Is a recognized technical expert in assisting the pharmacist in drug preparation, dispensing and distribution. Expected to have the process knowledge of systems to facilitate drug preparation dispensing and distribution. This includes being proficient in the general principles and techniques of asepsis utilized to compound sterile preparations (CSPs) to minimize the risk of contamination where applicable.
* Pharmaceutical Computer Literacy (Intermediate): Has demonstrated a high level of proficiency in understanding computers or has successfully completed additional training for applications that are used to support more complex or automated medication use processes. Is capable of using the advanced features of pharmaceutical computer applications to support patient care issues of moderate difficulty.
