The Department of Neurology seeks a full-time Staff Research Associate to study muscle stem cell biology and muscle stem cell aging. The individual will assist senior scientists and lab members in experiments involving laboratory animals and sterile tissue culture. Specifically, candidate will assist in various aspects of research projects including but not limited to animal dissections, tissue and cell collection, flow cytometry, microscopy and PCR. The researcher will be expected to learn and master new techniques on an ongoing basis in support of innovative research and emerging projects. We are seeking an independent, motivated individual with excellent organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
Salary Range: $26.52 - $31.63/Hourly
Required:
- Ability to learn new laboratorytechniques and to perform assays in a consistent manner.
- Background in cell and molecular biology and experience in handling laboratory animals.
- Ability to work independently onassigned tasks with great organizational skills.
- Ability to organize assignments, setpriorities, meet deadlines, and complete assignments with minimal supervision.
- Ability to maintain accurate recordsof experiments and results both in writing and computerized database.
- Ability to establish and maintaincollaborative working relationships with staff, faculty, administration, campusentities, and external sources.
- Ability to develop and suggestsolutions to material or processes in laboratory to be cost efficient and tofurther laboratory goals.
- Ability to proofread for accuracy,correct grammar, punctuation spelling, and syntax.
- Ability to work with a variety ofindividuals from the University and from outside institutions.
- Ability to train new personnel ontechniques learned in a clear and concise manner.
- Knowledge of basic laboratory safetyand regulations.
- Ability to work some nights and weekends.
