The Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital (BJWCH) Sleep/EEG Center is an 8 bed lab accredited member of the American Academy of Sleep Medicine (AASM). Sleep Disorders affect more than 70 million Americans. At BJWCH, we provide excellent patient care and education. Overnight sleep testing is performed in a quiet, dark and safe environment with a focus on service excellence and technical quality by Registered Polysomnographic Technologists.

Role Purpose
The Polysom-RT Technologist is able to perform a wide variety of electro neurodiagnostic testing. The role provides therapeutic, diagnostic and assessment related responsibilities within the sleep lab department, including completing test analysis (scoring) tracheostomy and mechanical ventilator management. It can independently apply clinical respiratory expertise and scientific knowledge. This position ensures patient safety by providing care in an effective, developmentally, and age-appropriate manner.
Responsibilities
Ensures quality diagnostic sleep testing outcomes to include patient preparation, electrode application, troubleshooting, producing artifact-free testing, documentation and equipment and room cleaning.
Performs all diagnostic testing procedures. Reviews clinical recordings with staff physicians when needed for assistance and clarification during interpretation. Completes test analysis and prepares reports for physician interpretation.
Demonstrates clinical and respiratory care skills to support additional job responsibilities such as tracheotomy and mechanical ventilator management. Applies respiratory knowledge and clinical expertise, including the ability to assess, analyze and troubleshoot as needed.
Assists in the education and training processes within the department and acts as a resource to other technicians, including sharing respiratory knowledge
