Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) in scenic sunny Tucson, Arizona is currently looking for a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program Out-patient Psychiatrist.
Position Information:
As a Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) psychiatrist at the SAVAHCS you will provide outpatient care to Veterans with mental health disorders as part of an integrated team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, and clinical pharmacists. Our psychiatrists have an assigned Care Coordinator who triages walk-in patients, answers patient phone calls, and serves as a physician extender as appropriate. Intakes are scheduled for 90 minutes, follow ups are 30 minutes. Part-time psychiatrists’ positions will be scheduled for 15 clinical hours per week.
This position is in partnership with Banner UMC, 20 hours a week will be at SAVAHCS in the Behavioral Health Interdisciplinary Program (BHIP) and 20 hours a week will be at Banner University Medical Center (BUMC) at the south campus and whole health clinic. Salary and benefits will be prorated based on a part-time schedule.
Work Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:30 AM - 4:00PM or 8:00 AM - 4:30 PM
Southern Arizona VA Healthcare System (SAVAHCS) Information
The VA Medical Center located at Tucson Arizona is the "Flagship" for the Southern Arizona VA Health Care System (SAVAHCS), which serves over 170,000 veterans located in eight counties in Southern Arizona and one county in Western New Mexico. This 295-bed hospital provides training, primary care and sub-specialty health care in numerous medical areas for eligible Veterans. It is a state-of-the-art network of health care facilities throughout Southern Arizona comprised of the medical center in Tucson, Arizona and seven Community Based Outpatient Clinics in Casa Grande, Green Valley, Safford, Sierra Vista, Yuma, Northwest, and Southeast Tucson.
It also is a Joint Commission-accredited, level 1a complexity teaching hospital, providing tertiary-level care. The SAVAHCS offers a beautiful 150-acre campus with a full range of medical and mental health services for Veterans, including a 31-bed inpatient psychiatry/substance use acute treatment unit, a 25-bed mental health residential rehabilitation treatment program for substance use disorders (SUD) and PTSD treatment, intensive outpatient programs for SUD and PTSD, homeless programs, and more. The SAVAHCS operates a 24-hour emergency department and is the host site for various regional referral centers of excellence including the Polytrauma Network Site, the Southwest Blind Rehabilitation Center, and the Mental Health Residential Rehabilitation Treatment Program (MHRRTP). The SAVAHCS is the principal teaching affiliate of the University of Arizona Colleges of Medicine, Nursing, and Pharmacy. Annually nearly 1,000 physician and associated health trainees participate in health care training programs at the SAVAHCS.
Requirements:
Must be board certified in psychiatry.
Must have an active and unrestricted license in any of the US States
Degree of Doctor of Medicine or an equivalent degree resulting from a course of education in medicine or osteopathic medicine.
Completion of Residency program in Psychiatry
Preferred Requirements:
Experience with adult outpatient psychiatry treating a variety of mental health issues.
Experience working with Veterans and/or service members.
