The LabCorp Integrated Genetics Division is seeking a Cytogenetics Technologist Trainee to join their Microarray team in RTP, NC! Assays performed in the Cytogenetics Department utilize a variety of scientific techniques, including prenatal culturing, DNA extraction, real-time PCR, PCR, SNP microarray, and gel electrophoresis.

The working schedule for this position will be: 2nd shift, Tuesday-Saturday 3:00pm-11:30pm.

Job Responsibilities:

• Harvest cells from prenatal cultures: amniotic fluid, peripheral blood, CVS and POC specimens
• Extract DNA from amniotic fluid, peripheral blood, bone marrow, buccal swabs, chorionic villi, and POC specimens
• Perform microarray analysis
• Perform real-time PCR testing
• Review test requisitions to gather pertinent details for analysis as needed
• Assist the team with the QA/QC duties in the lab
• Assist the team with routine preventative maintenance on lab equipment

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's degree in a Chemical or Biological science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Medical Technology or meet local regulatory (CLIA & State) requirements.
• Previous experience is not required at the Technologist Trainee level.
• Ability to work independently and within a team environment.
• Proficient with computers; Familiarity with laboratory information systems are a plus.
• High level of attention detail along with strong communication and organizational skills.
• Must be able to pass a standardized color vision screen.
• Flexibility to work overtime or other shifts depending on business needs.
