Job Description

Exciting Opportunity at MSK: Specialist I, Patient Financial Services

The Patient Financial Services Department is seeking a Specialist I, Patient Financial Services to work in collaboration with the MSK clinical and administrative staff, patients, and insurance carriers. In this role, you will play an integral role in MSK's ability to expand access to care by working with insurance carriers to pursue the maximum reimbursement for care. In this role you will play an integral role in the Institution's ability to expand access to care through working with insurance carriers to pursue the maximum reimbursement for care, which is essential towards reducing the financial barriers experienced by patients being treated for cancer.

Role Overview:

• Responsible for verifying insurance benefits and pursuing pre-certification for services that include, but are not limited to, chemotherapy including combination drug and supportive drugs therapy.
• Maintains a working knowledge of insurance carrier's guidelines for pre-certification requests. Communicates any changes in requirements and or noticeable changes in reimbursement patterns by insurance carriers for services to management team
• Upon verifying benefits and pre-certifying services, responsible for communicating outcomes to clinical and administrative staff that are involved in the patient's care, and to the patients.
• Maintain ongoing communication with the clinical team during the authorization process to provide timely updates on the outcomes of the requests for services from insurance carriers.
• Educate and counsel patients on their insurance coverage and explain payment options that are available to them.

• Patient or customer service experience

Additional Information:

Location: Hybrid, 1 - 9 Times a Year at 633 3rd Ave

Schedule: Monday - Friday, 9:00 AM - 5:00 PM EST

Reporting to: Supervisor, Patient Financial Services

Pay Range: $25.65-$38.42
