Job Description: Under the direction of physicians, the Physician Assistant (PA) provides health care and performs selective medical services. Job Duties: Competently assesses, diagnoses and treats patients. Assists physicians by maximizing patient volume, monitoring and contacting high risk patients, returning patient calls in a timely manner, and providing follow up on diagnostic test results. Develops with the patient and/or caregivers, a mutually acceptable cost-aware plan of care that maximizes health potential. Formulates a treatment plan which includes ordering diagnostic tests, selecting appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, develops a patient education plan, and obtains appropriate consultation or referral. Consults with physician appropriately regarding patient care issues and concerns. Demonstrates productivity and initiative by organizing patient care, delegating to appropriate staff, prioritizing workload and seeking opportunities to improve clinical processes and staff/patient education. Demonstrates professionalism by articulating and demonstrating professional behavior, accepting responsibility and accountability for actions, adhering to policies and procedures, demonstrating leadership and supporting Meritas initiatives. Minimum Qualifications: Graduation from an accredited physician assistant program. Licensed by the State of Missouri as a Physician Assistant 2 years experience as PA in clinic specialty, strongly preferred PA-C from NCCPA (National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants) BLS (Basic Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association) ACLS (Advance Cardiac Life Support) from AHA (American Heart Association) Proficiency with electronic health records and database management.
