Summary
Kaiser Permanente-Washington Permanente Medical Group is seeking a Part Time 0.5 FTE Reviewer for the Specialized Medical Ability Resource Program (SMART team) to join our WPMG HQ team in Renton, Washington.
Job Summary
The Reviewer will be an integral part of the Specialized Medical Ability Resource Program (SMARTeam) providing support to staff and members in need of assistance related to leave processes. The Reviewer deals with sensitive departmental and organizational matters, works independently, is responsible for auditing online requests for care gaps, completion of formulaic requests, and other duties as assigned. The position is expected to exercise latitude and judgment to perform job responsibilities and resolve problems within established procedures and guidelines.
Principal Duties & Responsibilities
- Monitor appointment completion and communicate to the reviewers.
- Complete formulaic requests following standard guidelines.
- Triage incoming staff messages, resolve or escalate as appropriate.
- Communicate effectively when working with clinicians to address disability related questions.
- Develop and maintain expertise in federal, state, and local disability related regulations and legislation, including, but not limited to FMLA, WPFMLA, etc., as well as Disability Duration Guidelines, and Milliman Criteria. Collaborates in on-going clinical review skills development and implementation of best practices.
- Outreach patients via phone and/or secure message to obtain information as appropriate (missing information on intake forms, coordination of appointments needed to fulfill certification requirements).
- Support WPMG goals and objectives to improve patient care, disability prevention and management.

Knowledge and Skill Required
Self-directed:
- Ability to work independently with indirect supervision and learn quickly to apply in-depth knowledge of department practices.
Problem Solving:
- Ability to problem solve and exercise good judgement in handling/releasing confidential/sensitive information.
Communication:
- Strong written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.
- Demonstrated customer service and interpersonal skills; ability to effectively communicate with all levels of management (internal/external), and staff.
- Intermediate knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite applications (Outlook, Planner, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, SharePoint, OneNote, etc.).
- Intermediate knowledge of the Epic HealthConnect system (preferred but not required)
Organization:
- Ability to attend to details, prioritize and complete multiple tasks independently in a fast-paced environment and following agreed upon timelines
Teamwork and Collaboration:
- Collaborates with Business Office staff (Patient Access Representatives), teams and leads in addressing disability related form completion issues and requests as needed.
