Patient Access Financial Counselor

The PAS financial Counselor will coordinate all efforts to seek assistance/funding for services provided to uninsured and/or patients with limited coverage and, assisting patients/families with applications for such funding. This position will perform cashiering duties including overseeing daily deposits and petty cash transactions, receive patient payments and assist with payment plan options. This position will be under the direction of the Patient Access Manager.

Education:

·         Associate?s degree preferred.  High school graduate or equivalent is required, with a combination of education and experience to include but not limited to patient collections, payment plan arrangements, financial and registration experience within a patient care setting.

Experience:

·         Five years? previous experience with financial assistance programs and collection of hospital accounts receivables. Must have a proven track record of excellent communications and interpersonal skills, including conflict resolution with problem solving abilities.  Possess ability to effectively communicate with all levels of internal and external customers, including medical staff, patient, families and outside agencies with poise and tack.  Demonstrated computer skills.
