Role Purpose
Assistant Director has an emphasis on BJC System initiatives and interacts with other BJC lab leaders. Provides support to the Laboratory Executive Director and Regional Director and is responsible for the operational, financial and human resource management of all cost centers associated with their assigned areas. Responsibility involves clinical and business development of their lab area(s). This position collaborates with the other assistant directors to ensure clinical best practices are implemented and maintained. The Asst Director is responsible for development of leadership and staff.
Responsibilities
Manages individual(s) including but not limited to: onboarding and hiring, training, workload management & performance evaluations, conducting professional development plans as needed. Ensures that the productivity and actions of that group meet/support the overall operational goals of the department as established by department leadership.
Evaluates, develops and maintains standards of practice for assigned departments.
Ensures compliance with system and hospital policies, and all regulatory requirements.
Has input into developing budgets (FTE, revenue and expense) and responds to changes in the business which may affect the ability to achieve the budget goals.
Actively integrates performance improvement initiatives to improve clinical quality and safety. Develops working relationships with medical directors to achieve quality initiatives.
Integrates services for BJC labs by working collaboratively with lab leadership and peers within BJC. Support BJC system initiatives for lab standardization and consolidation.
