About the opportunity:
The Staff Pharmacist will interpret, prepare, file, and dispense medications on the order of physicians. The position will conduct all aspects of retail pharmacy operations according to all state, federal, agency, and organization regulations as well as with the mission, vision, and values of Vail Health.
This position is PRN/Pool or as needed.
What you will do:
Interpret physician orders for medications and prescriptions by profiling, preparing, labeling, and dispensing prescription medications from the retail pharmacy in accordance with all applicable pharmacy laws.
Evaluate medications for dosage, route, frequency, and interactions, and provide care based upon physical, motor/sensory, psychosocial, and safety that is appropriate to the age of the patient served.
Counsel the patient with the appropriate medication information about the medication prescribed.
Responsible for inventory control in the pharmacy by maintaining par levels of medications and aiding in prescription pricing strategies.
In the absence of the Pharmacy Manager, ensure that day to day operations of the pharmacy are in compliance with the Colorado State Board of Pharmacy rules and regulations, as well as supervise and coordinate the Pharmacy Technicians? activities and duties.
Assist the Pharmacy Manager with personnel decisions, including hiring, disciplinary actions, and evaluations.
Professionally interact with medical and nursing staff to provide quality pharmacy services.
Assist with budgetary process for the department.
Role models the principals of a Just Culture and Organizational Values.
Perform other duties as assigned. Must be HIPAA compliant.

What you will need:
Experience:
Two years of previous experience in health care required.
License(s):
State of Colorado Pharmacist license required.
Certification(s):
Basic Life Support (BLS) required.
Pharmacy-Based Immunization Delivery Certificate or Adult Immunization Training Program for Pharmacists Certificate preferred.
Computer / Typing:
Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc. Must be comfortable with Microsoft Office and pharmaceutical software.
Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
