We are seeking a Patient Care Technician in our Duke GI-Endoscopy at Brier Creek located in Raleigh, NC to be an integral member of the healthcare team to provide direct and indirect care to patients.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Determine, prepare and set up medical supplies and equipment for diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures.
Explain procedures to patient, allay their fear and elicit cooperation.
Prepare patients for diagnostic and therapeutic procedures to include obtaining specimens, attaching vital sign equipment, and positioning the patient.
Assist physician and nursing personnel during diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures to include, handling instruments and equipment, calling out equipment readings, and handling specimens while maintaining infection control standards.
Manually clean endoscopes and then perform the proper process to complete high level disinfection of these scopes.
Distribute supplies as needed and maintain inventory of supplies.
Assist nurse with transporting the patient into the procedure room and to recovery after the procedure.
Obtain family members from the waiting room once patient is in recovery, assist patients to restroom when needed and obtain refreshments for patients.
Clean and dress stretchers in preparation for next patient.
Clean procedure rooms, including procedural tables, countertops, floor mats and wall suction systems.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS:
Completion of a related 1 year technical school program.
Generally requires two years of experience in health care specialties; an additional two years of experience may be substituted for the technical school. Or an equivalent combination of relevant education and /or experience.
JOB HOURS:
The schedule for this position is day shifts Monday-Friday, with no weekends, holidays, or call.
