Overview
Job Description: To provide superior patient care in a pulmonary rehabilitation setting in compliance with JACHO, AACVPR and ACMS standard regulations. Update and maintain patient's individual treatment plan and other required documentation. Assist with rehab program by following individual treatment plan (ITP) and educational needs. Must be able to adapt to given situations in a clinical setting and emergency situations. Pulmonary rehab specialist must exhibit knowledge and understanding of the physiology progression of chronic lungs conditions. The pharmokentics, actions and multiplicity of pulmonary medications. Staff must be able to articulate knowledge of secretion clearance techniques, oxygen use and safety. Staff will have a basic knowledge of psychosocial understanding and how chronic lung conditions affect their mental status along with family members. Staff will display an aptitude of creativity to assist with patients enhancements of daily living. RRT certification specific: RRT's will be competent in completion of initial intake assessments. They must be able to determine if the patient meets qualifications for the rehab program. They must display competence in administering assessment tools for outcome measurements, specific to pulmonary rehab. Completion of initial assessment documentation in a timely manner.
Responsibilities
Demonstrates essential skill competencies in use of treatment modalities across multiple disciplines as appropriate to treatment setting. Applies knowledge within the defined competencies while providing patient treatment as evidenced by observation, documentation and team feedback. Effectively prepares and sets up for patient treatment and adheres to guidelines established for patient care. Demonstrates proper clinical judgment during exercise program when monitoring patients. Communicates effectively in documentation and verbally with patients, family, medical staff, care team members, students, supervisors and outside contacts in order to collaborate with team members and provide effective care. Demonstrates collaboration in communication with team members, is open to feedback, receptive to change, and creative when defining the patient treatment plan. Contacts appropriate medical staff if there is any change in the patients condition or change in response to treatment. Communicates appropriate information to patients and family regarding patients status etc., deferring to physician appropriately. Appropriately and effectively accesses patient information, completes documentation, schedules an initial assessment/follow up on patient referrals, completes chart set-up, and charges appropriately for services provided where applicable for productive time using program guidelines as evidenced by review of documentation. Completes assigned administrative responsibilities within established time frames (e.g. flow sheets, office business tasks, and patient scheduling) as evidenced by observation and team feedback. Demonstrates fiscal responsibility and knowledge regarding supplies and equipment. Maintains a clean, safe, orderly treatment area, maintains equipment upkeep and inventory as well as maintaining supplies as outlined by supervisor and evidenced by observation. Participates in educational efforts of department (e.g. in services, CPR, BLS, ACLS, Glucometer training). Provides education methods as appropriate to patients at a level of understanding and motivation. Contributes to productivity standards set by the program/dept. by making effective use of unscheduled time and flexing. Demonstrates the ability to be proactive in identifying problems and initiating alternative approaches to daily responsibilities. Demonstrates the ability to independently carry out a treatment plan to address therapy goals anticipating clinician and patient needs in preparation for delivery of treatment as evidenced by observation and team feedback.
Qualifications
1yr. as a CRT/RRT/RN/ASEP credentials.
ACLS preferred.
