Shift: Monday - Friday (Rotating positions weekly beginning at 6am, 7am, 7:30am, and 8am depending on position)

The role you’ll contribute:
Responsible for accurate and efficient processing of all pharmacy cash and charge transactions. Responsible for prompt and accurate delivery of prescriptions to patients. Provides courteous, friendly and efficient service in finding merchandise when requested by customers and handling sale transactions. Assist pharmacy staff in a range of supportive duties consistent with goals, policies and procedure of the pharmacy. Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.

Maintain a sense of urgency and accuracy when delivering medications to patients. Maintain speed and accuracy while processing customer’s transactions. Demonstrates understanding of all procedures concerning cash register and computer systems. Maintains current knowledge
regarding handling of sales such as credit cards, checks, payroll deduction, discount sales, split pays, exchanges or refunds. Runs required daily and monthly reports and verify employee charges at scheduled periods.
Communicate with patients about the status of their prescriptions. Greet incoming customers immediately upon entering the store. Verify that prescriptions contain all the information needed to fill prescription prior to giving to data entry technician for processing. Answer phone calls and determine nature of request. Records refill requests making sure to get all needed information.
Utilizes knowledge of all merchandise to promote “suggestive selling”. Responsible for keeping the front end clean and organized. This includes unpacking, pricing and stocking of shelves, dusting, straightening and pulling of outdated OTC merchandise. Obtain required patient demographic information, including prescription insurance information for processing, and ask appropriate questions in regarding pharmacy counseling. Perform other duties as assigned by the Pharmacy Manager.
Follows a systematic approach for assisting with the flow of prescriptions through the pharmacy. Obtains HIPAA waiver if not on file. Address customers by name when possible. Smiles and make eye contact with all customers. Display a caring, courteous and congenial attitude toward customers and employees. Identify customers requiring assistance and attend to their needs with urgency. Be aware of when there is a need to request register assistance and inform department manager or pharmacist on duty.
Contribute to the organization and efficient operation of the pharmacy. Organize assigned work area by keeping it well stocked with necessary items and keeping it in an orderly fashion. Contribute potential ideas to improve patient care and department organization. Plan and manage time in order to complete work assignments within a schedule time frame, so assistance may be given to other team members when needed or as directed. Demonstrate ability to work effectively under pressure and stress. Maintain patient confidentiality at all time and assist the pharmacy technicians when needed. Utilize available educational materials and opportunities in field.
Understand disaster plan according to department policy. Remains current in all Retail Pharmacy business and other necessary policies and procedures to ensure consistent quality of knowledge and performance. Attend scheduled department meetings unless provisions are made for special occasions. Read memos, emails and posted changes and updates.
Qualifications

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Previous experience as a cashier or pharmacy clerk
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
High School diploma or equivalent education/experience
