The New Mexico VA Healthcare System is recruiting for a Health Technician (HT) located in the Behavioral Health Care Line (BHCL) Outpatient Clinics. The purpose of the position is to provide medical, psychiatric, and administrative support assistance in the Outpatient Mental Health (OMH), Psychiatry Primary Care (PPC), Neuromodulation Clinic (NMC), and Substance Use Disorder (SUD) clinics by performing technical and administrative tasks with the goal of providing excellent care for Veterans. To qualify for this position, applicants must meet all requirements by the closing date of this announcement, 12/02/2024. Time-In-Grade Requirement: Applicants who are current Federal employees and have held a GS grade any time in the past 52 weeks must also meet time-in-grade requirements by the closing date of this announcement. For a GS-06 position you must have served 52 weeks at the GS-05. The grade may have been in any occupation, but must have been held in the Federal service. An SF-50 that shows your time-in-grade eligibility must be submitted with your application materials. Perform direct patient support to include gathering information from patients, providing personal patient care and patient education on home use of medical equipment such as glucometers, blood pressure monitors, peak flow meters, etc. Assist Veterans with scheduling appointments, entering requests for labs, x-rays into CPRS GUI, entering consult requests for specialty services within Behavioral Health, assisting Veterans with scheduling appointments in ancillary/specialty services. Responds appropriately to emergency situations such as cardiopulmonary failure, hemorrhaging, and shock by assisting in the performance of resuscitation measures (CPR).
