Overview
St. Luke's Health System in Boise, Idaho is currently seeking a Physician's Associate (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP) to join our growing neurosurgery team. The PA or NP will be responsible for providing high-quality healthcare through the diagnosis and treatment of acute and chronic neurosurgical conditions. The successful candidate will work under the supervision of Edward Duckworth, MD, St. Luke's Director of Cranial Neurosurgery. This full-time opportunity involves primarily day shifts, with evening and weekend call responsibilities.
The position focuses on the inpatient and outpatient care of benign and malignant brain tumors (gliomas, meningiomas, acoustic neuromas, pituitary tumors), brain and spine vascular abnormalities (aneurysms and AVMs), and various other diseases of the central nervous system (Trigeminal Neuralgia, Chiari Malformation, Normal Pressure Hydrocephalus). The PA or NP will work primarily in the operating room (assisting with surgery) with some clinic components and will also be expected to keep track of current patients in the hospital (rounding is done by another hospital-based APP team). Our team emphasizes and takes pride in performing surgery judiciously, achieving high-quality outcomes, and maintaining excellent communication with patients, families, and referring physicians.
JOB REQUIREMENTS INCLUDE:
- Graduation from an accredited school with a minimum of a Master's Degree and certification, as required by the specialty, as well as eligibility to obtain licensure from Idaho to practice as a Physician Assistant.
- Must obtain and maintain unrestricted prescriptive authority, DEA, and controlled substance licenses.
- Excellent communication skills to include oral and written comprehension/expression.
- Ability to manage a fast-paced, busy clinical environment related to changing patient needs, including work with patients with acute, chronic, and complex disease processes.
- Ability and willingness to exhibit behaviors consistent with standards for performance improvement and organizational values (e.g., efficiency & financial responsibility, safety, partnership & service, teamwork, compassion, integrity, and trust & respect).
