Job Summary:

The Audiologist performs direct clinical activities including vestibular diagnostic evaluations, treatment and consultation.

Responsibilities:

• Conducts vestibular evaluations of patients determining the most beneficial method of habilitation/rehabilitation, which is consistent with established indicators, guidelines and procedures of the practice.
• Administers and interprets standard vestibular diagnostic tests such as Vestibular Evoked Myogenic Potentials (VEMP), Rotational Vestibular Testing, Posturography and Videonystagmography (VNG) to establish the degree, implications and management of the vestibular impairment.
• Interviews patients and families to gather data and developmental histories to aid in the diagnosis and management of patients.
• Counsels and recommends course of habilitation/rehabilitation and/or medical intervention to the patient and family relating to the vestibular disorder.
• Consults with physicians and vestibular physical therapists in implementing intervention strategies such as vestibular rehabilitation programs.
• Prepares written reports of evaluations, recommendations and progress, and insures proper dissemination.
• Direct liaison with biomed for maintenance and functioning of equipment.
• Direct liaison with equipment vendors for maintenance and functioning of equipment.
• PR for balance center including patient presentations, development of balance center brochures and published articles for balance center.
• Participates in preparation of center for DNC inspections for diagnostic and therapeutic areas.
• Active participation in ongoing vestibular research.
• Responsible to train additional incoming staff as the balance center grows.
• Direct liaison to billing department to address possible related billing issues for both the balance center and cochlear implant center.

Experience:

At least 2 years of experience as an Audiologist in a hospital or clinic setting, required.

Education:

Doctoral degree in Audiology (AuD or PhD), required.

Licenses / Certifications:

NY State Audiology License, required.
