The role you’ll contribute:
The Emergency Department Manager will be responsible for all the following duties and responsibilities in collaboration with the Department Director. These will include, but are not limited to: customer satisfaction, financial management, regulatory compliance, human resources issues, employee competency, performance improvement, maintaining and complying with policies and procedures and regular communication with employees. The NurseManager provides leadership and oversight with all unit functions and patient care issues on a day-to- day basis. Occasional duties and responsibilities will occasionally occur outside of typical office hours.
The Nurse Manager (RN) is responsible for the over-sight of the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient and/or and assigned group of patients within a patient care unit and for the day-to-day management and supervision of the related clinical activities. The Nurse Manager is also responsible for supervising and responsibly directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment, while practicing within the State, facility and regulatory guidelines.
SHARE – Customer Satisfaction
Reviews patient satisfaction results with staff at staff meetings and through other avenues of communication.
Discusses ways in which employees can contribute to patient satisfaction. Departmental minutes reflect documentation not less than quarterly.
Responsible for annual/90 day evaluations and discusses with employees as to his or her contribution to patient satisfaction.
Maintain high patient satisfaction through Nurse Leader Rounding.
Oversight of Nurse Hourly Rounding to insure quality.
Addresses complaints and works with staff to resolve issues.
Financial Management
Responsible for departmental payroll. This includes collaboration with employees, payroll office and other departments as needed.
Assists Director with departmental financial review.
Reviews productivity reports as often as are merited (daily for clinical departments). Changes staffing levels to reflect appropriate productive hours per unit of service.
Responsible for managing productivity and budget goals.
Communication with Employees
Assists with conducting departmental meetings, including staff meetings. Responsible for meeting minutes.
Regulatory Compliance
Complies with Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (TJC) and American Osteopathic Association (AOA) standards to ensure the hospital maintains accreditation.
Complies with Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS) Conditions of Participation to ensure appropriate reimbursement.
Complies with State of Georgia Department of Human Resources and Office of Regulatory Services Rules and Regulations.
Ensures compliance with changes made by any regulatory agency.
Human Resources
Responsible for staffing needs, which may include: selection/screening and interviews.
Collaborate with Clinical Coordinator to ensure employees are orientated within Murray Medical Center and their respective department, as well as reviewing employee’s job description with employee.
Employee evaluations are completed per policy.
Responsible for progressive counseling through verbal and written communication. Consults Human Resources and Department Director for guidance in progressive counseling and terminations.
Employee Competency
Provides an initial orientation for new employees upon hire.
Responsible for review and collection of all new hire competency paperwork.
Provides an annual evaluation of competency based on job performance.
Changes competency paperwork as needed when new services provided, new job responsibilities or if clinical changes occur (new treatment, procedures, equipment, standard of care changes, new regulatory policy)>
Ensures through evaluation process that employees are competent to do job for which they were hired.
Conforms to Gordon Hospital Policies and Procedures
Ensures that departmental staff comply with Gordon Hospital’s hospital-wide policies, as well as, departmental policies.
Performance Improvement
Responsible for ongoing Performance Improvement.
Involves staff in the Performance Improvement process.
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
Associate’s Degree in nursing with valid Georgia License
At least one year of experience practicing as a Registered Nurse
BLS, ACLS and PALS certification through AHA.
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing with valid Georgia license preferred.
Three years’ experience practicing as a Registered Nurse and two years of leadership or supervisory experience in a healthcare setting preferred
