JOB SUMMARY
We are seeking a PATIENT ACCOUNT ASSOCIATE for Duke Signature Care, a Primary Care Medical Home and concierge practice, located at 234 Crooked Creek Parkway in Durham, NC. The Patient Account Associate will serve as the primary resource for managing referrals and coordinating patient appointments within DUHS and with other community healthcare providers. Position may require rotation at our other Signature Care clinic site as needed, located at 3475 Erwin Rd. in Durham.
JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Initiate and develop relationships with customers in order to gather and process information or resolve issues in order to receive accurate reimbursement and optimize internal and external customer satisfaction.
Generate letters, work with spreadsheets, and manage data entry tasks related to referral coordination, patient appointments, and financial processing.
Resolve issues related to referrals, optimizing both patient satisfaction and internal workflows.
Coordinate and schedule patient appointments using established guidelines and decision trees to determine the appropriate provider, location, and visit type.
Communicate with patients regarding appointment details, referral status, and special accommodations, such as interpreter services.
Collaborate with departments and clinics to ensure smooth transitions of care and facilitate timely access to services for patients.
Prioritize and manage in-basket and referral work queues, including emergency, urgent, and routine referrals, ensuring all are processed within established timelines; close the loop on all stat and urgent referrals according to PCMH guidelines; close the loop on in-basket messages as needed
Serve as the primary resource for managing referrals within and outside of Duke University Health System and community healthcare providers.
Maintain high levels of productivity and quality of work in compliance with Duke University Health System (DUHS) policy standards.
JOB ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
Requires knowledge of basic grammar and mathematical principles normally acquired through high school education, with some postsecondary education preferred. Additional training or working knowledge of related business.
Two years of experience working in hospital access, physician office, or billing and collections; or an equivalent of relevant education and/or experience.
Experience in effectively coordinating multiple tasks or activities is required.
Must be able to handle multiple assignments, conflicting demands & priorities.
JOB HOURS
The schedule for this position is day shifts, Monday-Friday, with no weekends or holidays.
