The Child Life Specialist plays a crucial role in the healthcare setting, providing child life assessment and implementing appropriate interventions to support the optimal development of children and minimize the negative impacts of medical experiences on both children and their families. Through child life interventions, this specialist aims to ease coping mechanisms and enhance adjustment in young patients and their families. Additionally, they act as stewards and consultants for patient and family-centered care initiatives, ensuring a holistic approach to healthcare. A key aspect of this role involves providing clinical supervision to child life students, assistants, and volunteers, guiding them in delivering high-quality care. Attention to detail, empathy, and strong communication skills are essential for building effective relationships with children and families, helping them navigate challenging healthcare environments with care and compassion.
This is a 40-hour-per-week position, and we are looking to fill roles on the Pediatrics/PICU Inpatient Floor (28 beds total) and the Pediatrics Emergency Department (Peds ED).

Bachelor's degree in Child Life
Eligible for Child Life certification – obtaining certification within one year of employment.
Clinical experience associated with completion of accredited Child Life Internship
Strong knowledge of child development principles and pediatric healthcare
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
Ability to collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams
