Advanced Practice Registered Nurses / Physician Assistants

Summary:
Provides clinical leadership and oversight in collaboration with the division/site medical director and the operations management for the divisions/practices of responsibility and across all service locations for Advanced Practice Providers (APPs). Works with department/division leadership and will function in liaison and mentoring roles for APPs. The Lead APP directs practice strategy and utilization in collaboration with the organization?s APP Director who is responsible for APP practice at the organization and in alignment with the departmental/divisional leadership. This oversight includes systems to support evidence-based practice, systems to ensure patient safety, systems to promote provider efficiency and productivity, systems to oversee Professional Practice Evaluation (PPE)/Peer Review, and systems to promote professional development and participation in scholarly activities. The Lead APP participates in professional leadership activities including quality improvement, education, and professional practice evaluation of the APPs they represent.
The Lead APP provides oversight of App practice and role development in the Division/Department while maintaining consistency with the larger institution goals in collaboration with the APP Director
Responsibilities:
Clinical:Supports clinical service line growth and development of APP models in management of patients across a continuum of care. Enhances workflows and optimization of documentation in the electronic medical record.
Practice:Identifies clinical privileging and competence for APP practice. Works through and with the APP council and the APP Center and medical staff office to determine APP competency and compliance with focused professional performance evaluation (FPPE) and ongoing professional performance evaluation (OPPE). Works with the APP Center to identify quality indicators for APPs
Partnership:Collaborates with physician leadership, administrative leadership, and the APP Director to standardize workflows and transitions of care maximizing provider utilization and maintaining a culture of safety.
Operations:Facilitates leadership in a shared governance council model and via the integrated medical staff to identify and address the common APP practice, education and resource needs.
Professional Development:Applies the advancement model specific to APPs, develops guiding principles and supports the APP Council professional development committee
Scope of Practice:Identify APP processes and workflows, risks, and opportunities within the specialty scope of practice. Work within the state and federal regulations and laws and within the Medical Staff Bylaws of Akron Children?s to ensure that credentialed and privileged APPs function within their specialty scope of practice and in accordance with their delineation of privileges, and to the fullest extent of license and training across the organization.

Technical Expertise
1. Experience with IHI QI framework methodology, EBP and Lean Six Sigma desired.
2. Experience working with all levels within an organization is preferred.
3. Experience in healthcare is preferred.
4. Proficiency in MS Office [Outlook, Excel, Word, PowerPoint] or similar software is required.
Education and Experience
1. Education: Master?s Degree in Advanced Practice Registered Nursing as a CRNA, CNP, or CNS or Master?s Degree in a professional physician assistant program with associated licensure and board certifications as outlined in the Medical Staff Bylaws and Credentialing Policy. Doctoral Degree in Nursing Practice desirable for APRNs.

4. Years of experience supervising: 2 years of leadership preferred
