Barnes-Jewish West County Hospital offers highly specialized surgical and medical services in an intimate environment and is known for outstanding patient care. With 64 private patient rooms, 14 operating rooms and four intensive care unit rooms, the facility was designed to provide a comforting environment that is innovative, efficient and centered on the patient experience. The campus features a park-like setting with landscaping and a walking path that winds through the grounds and connects to Millennium Park.
Barnes Jewish West County Hospital Pharmacy is responsible for the Medication Management of patients by procuring, storing, and distributing medications throughout the hospital. The pharmacy is also involved with many patient safety and quality processes to optimize medication administration.

Role Purpose
Under direct supervision of staff pharmacists, the Pharmacy Technician has primary responsibility of preparing drugs in unit-dose for IV/OR, inpatient and ancillary area. According to standard procedures, Pharmacy Students assist the staff pharmacist in physician order processing, dispensing medications, transporting medication supplies and maintaining appropriate records.
Responsibilities
Provides accurately prepared orders of pharmaceutical supplies by properly assembling orders and requisitions with the correct products.
Provides accurately prepared sterile preparations by properly following procedures.
Maintains quality assurance standards and maintenance of required documentation.
Delivers IV solutions and medications to nursing divisions and ancillary departments.
Maintains a clean, orderly and sufficiently stocked work area.
