Position Summary

This position is a medical language specialist who interprets dictations and performs office administration and complex transcription for the department providing timely and accurate patient reports and information to both internal and external customers. This position receives regular review of completed work activities from the Manager, Anatomic Pathology, and does not supervise any other position.

Education

• Associate?s degree or High School Diploma or equivalent coupled with three years of administrative experience. (Required)
• Graduate of a medical transcription educational program or at least 1 year of directly related Pathology Transcription experience in lieu of medical transcription requirement. (Required)

Experience

• Three years secretarial or administrative support experience. (Required)
• Proficient knowledge of medical terminology. (Required)
• Pathology specific experience. (Preferred)
• Billing/CPT coding experience. (Preferred)

Certifications

• AAMT/AHDI Medical transcription certification. (Preferred)

Special Skills

• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook). (Required)
• Typing/word processing at a rate of 60wpm. (Preferred)
• Familiar with SunQuest CoPath. (Preferred)
