Education: Candidate must have an MD or DO degree from an accredited medical school.
Experience: We highly value leadership experience. The candidate must have three or more years of experience in a leadership position, demonstrating their ability to guide and inspire a team.
State of Florida Licensure: Candidate must have and maintain an unrestricted, active license to practice medicine or osteopathic medicine, as applicable, in the State of Florida.
Board Certification: Candidate must have and maintain board certification in the applicable specialty.
Other: The candidate must have experience leading a team of care providers and understand cardiology health metrics, quality benchmarks, and productivity. Candidates must have excellent interpersonal skills and highly effective communication skills. This position is expected to build strong relationships within LMHS and regional Medical Staffs as well as LPG services. Medical Director is expected to educate and be a resource to others.
This position is a hybrid position consisting of 70% Administrative Responsibilities and 30% Clinical Responsibilities.
The Medical Director of Adult Clinical Cardiology is responsible for leading and coordinating Adult cardiology clinical activities within the Lee Health Heart Institute. They will oversee quality assessment and improvement activities (including internal and external data reporting) led by their direct reports. Play a key role in operational efficiency and improvement efforts
The Medical Director is responsible for oversight of the clinical quality and operational functions of the Heart Institute. The Chief will work closely with Chief Physician Executive of the Lee Health Heart Institute, section medical directors, physicians including the surgeons and cardiologists (both employed and private) and Advanced Practice Practitioners (APPs) to develop and standardize team based models of care to ensure ongoing growth of clinical programs, new patient access, clinical productivity, and efficiency with the underlying goal of optimizing the experience for patients and teammates.
