The CNM delivers comprehensive gynecologic and well women care, including family planning and utilizes standards of care to assess health status, diagnose medical conditions, develop medical plan of care, implement treatments, and evaluate patient responses. The CNM demonstrates strong leadership, is an excellent communicator, and is effectively able to prioritize a large number of patients in various stages of care. Job Duties: Assesses and evaluates patients through prenatal exams, screenings, and abnormal conditions under supervision of physician and requests consults to other specialties when indicated. May supervise and assist mothers in labor; educates and counsels individuals and families on prenatal care, nutrition, and childbirth preparation. Provides medical and emergency interventions appropriate to the patient's needs; prescribes and monitors medications appropriate to the diagnosis; Conducts postpartum assessments, guidance on newborn care, breastfeeding, and postpartum recovery and events such as miscarriage, termination, stillbirth, and neonatal death. Refers complex and high priority cases to collaborating physicians with regards to complicated diagnostic problems, serious complications, and re-evaluation of chronic conditions. Facilitates evaluation of records by physicians, peers, and quality standards according to protocols; receives and implements constructive directives. Formulates a treatment plan which includes ordering diagnostic tests, selecting appropriate pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic interventions, identifying educational needs of the patient and family, developing a patient education plan, and formulating a discharge/follow-up plan of care. Documents accurately all medical evaluations diagnoses, procedures, treatments, outcomes, education, referrals, and consultations consistent with regulatory standards and requirements (generally within 72 hours of service). Minimum Requirements: Master's Degree from an American Midwifery Certification (ACME) accredited organization, and/ or Masters in Nursing with Women's Health Certification Certification as a Nurse Midwife (CNM) by the AMBC, Licensed by the State of Missouri as Advanced Practice Registered Nurse (APRN) Previous APRN experience in OB/GYN or as Labor and Delivery Nurse strongly preferred Basic Life Support (BLS) from the American Heart Association Proficiency with electronic health records and database management. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Knowledge-Building/Sharing, Coaching/Empowering, Health System Vision & Management. CHF certification by the Heart Failure Nursing Certification Board (CHFN) is preferred. Proficiency with electronic health records and database management.
