Riley Hospital for Children is looking for a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant to join our Pediatric Critical Care team!
The Division of Pediatric Critical Care Medicine in the Department of Pediatrics at IU School of Medicine is an integral part of Indiana's only quaternary care pediatric hospital, Riley Children's Health at Indiana University Health. The highly trained sub-specialist intensivists in this pediatric specialty team are prepared to intervene at the most critical moment of a family's life journey, when their child's life hands in the balance. Patients from across the state of Indiana are transported here for interventions, procedures, and treatment that other hospitals are not equipped to perform. The Children's Hospital Associated names Riley Hospital one of the highest acuity patient mixes in the United States.
Full time, Night Shift
Typically, 3-12s with 4 hours of admin time
100% inpatient
No call
Work directly with 30 physicians and 8 APPs
Procedures include PICC Lines, Arterial Lines, Femoral CVL, LP, TPA Chest tubes, and Exchange Transfusions
Key Responsibilities:
Round, complete daily progress note and update changeover on all APP patients
Responsible, with attending physician, for bed control and PICU admissions during primary team rounds
Attend all CARTS/Codes and PEWS. Complete consult notes for any CARTS/PEWS and bill appropriately
Assess any ICU holds in the Emergency Department or PACU. Complete admission note and orders when appropriate
Complete billing for any procedures or consult notes completed
Assist with transport of PICU patients as needed
Perform and/or supervise resident/fellow procedures as needed
Attend nightly bedside rounds (ideally between 2000-2200). Update changeover and enter any orders as needed
Perform any necessary off hour (after 4pm on weekdays and weekends) sedations in conjunction with the ICY attending. Complete pre-sedation health history and exam. Order needed medications to be available. Coordinate sedation time with Attending Critical Care physician
Qualifications:
PNP Certification Required
Ideal candidate would be an experienced AC-PNP with experience in pediatric critical care
Recently or currently working as a PICU RN and or/PNP in an acute care pediatric hospital setting
