The role you’ll contribute:
Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all. Primary responsibility is the provision of distributive functions and pharmacy operational tasks, which includes but is not limited to assisting the pharmacist with all duties of preparing and dispensing of medications, inventory management, pharmacy billing and customer service, and regulatory compliance. Performs duties necessary for the effective daily operation of all department services and programs. Accurately responds to prescription dispensing requests, coordinates medication access and adherence, prepares medications for pharmacist review/check, performs claim adjudication and processes customer (patient) account reconciliation.
- Actively performs pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in pharmacy specific computer systems and operational programs.
- Maintains operational expertise and competency and actively provides coverage of at least ONE of the following:
o Electronic SureScripts Prescription Data Entry, Non-Specialty
o Claims Adjudication of New and Refill Orders, Non-Specialty
o Hard Copy Prescription Data Entry, Non-Specialty
o Prescription Clarification Coordination, Non-Specialty
- Interprets and accurately enters prescription order information into pharmacy software system, ensuring proper patient, drug, medication directions, refills and prescriber are selected
- Processes claims adjudication and copay assistance billing for new prescription orders and refill requests, ensuring appropriate National Drug Code (NDC) selection and shipping method are selected at the time of dispense. Verifies ship date and ship to address, if applicable
- Monitors prescription workflow queue(s) to ensure daily productivity goals are being met and shipments are processed in a timely manner; maintains patient appointment calendar, if applicable
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
- High School degree or Equivalent
- One year of pharmacy technician experience, in a retail pharmacy, mail-order pharmacy, central fill, or hospital setting OR completion of a pharmacy technician student internship at AdventHealth in a retail or hospital setting, in lieu of pharmacy technician experience.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
- Previous experience in a managed healthcare organization, medical insurance company, pharmacy benefit management or other healthcare related entity.
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
- Florida Board of Pharmacy Registered Pharmacy Technician (RPT) license; must complete state required continuing education requirements
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION, OR REGISTRATION PREFERRED:
- PTCB- National Pharmacy Technician Certification (CPhT)
