Summary:

The Charge Nurse for the Emergency Department leads people, effectively uses time, equipment and supplies to maximize throughput of the patient. The ED Charge Nurse provides treatment to patients and identifies needs of the patient in fast-paced environment. This individual recruits, trains, and engages emergency department staff while engaging medical staff colleagues to strengthen relationships while continuing to work to meet or exceed organizational and national patient safety and quality goals.

Responsibilities:

Leads staff members. Performs employee feedbacks, oversees training, makes assignments, and demonstrates leadership to support organizational goals and initiatives.

Maximizes efficient of utilization of supply, equipment, and labor budget.

Supports all patient safety oversight while providing this leadership and direction to supervised staff members.

Demonstrates proficiency in core competencies for safe and appropriate preparation of sterile products for patient administration, including but not limited to the following:

Hand hygiene

Garbing

Cleaning and disinfection

Calculations, measuring, and mixing

Aseptic technique

Achieving and maintaining sterility and apyrogenicity

Use of equipment

Engages and builds medical staff relationships.

Other duties as assigned.

Reference: Prepares manufactured sterile products per the manufacturer's FDA approved product labeling in accordance with requirements of United States Pharmacopeia (USP) chapter 797 guidance. Compounds only Immediate Use Compounded Sterile Products (CSPs) as defined by and in compliance with requirements of USP 797 guidance for Immediate Use CSPs and YRMC policy.

* ADVANCED CARDIAC LIFE SUPPORT (ACLS)
* PEDIATRIC ADVANCED LIFE SUPPORT (PALS)
* REGISTERED NURSE (RN)
* STROKE CERTIFICATION (NIHSS)
* BASIC LIFE SUPPORT (BLS)

Education:
Essential:
* ASSOCIATE'S DEGREE

Other information:

Education: RN - Arizona or Compact State Licensure, BLS, ACLS, PALS, Stroke

Experience: 3+ years nursing experience
