Exercises full operational control over all flight operations. Acts as the designated representative to the Federal Aviation Administration. Ensures that all flight activity is within compliance of all FAA regulations.
Job Duties
Supervises aviation employees.
Ensures that all flight operations are conducted safely and in compliance with all Federal Aviation Regulations, FAA issued Operations Specifications and organization policies.
Has the authority to act for the organization as the FAA part 35 Certificate holder, including the signing of FAA correspondence and operations specifications.
Communicates and files all required reports and documents with the Federal Aviation Administration and the National Transportation Safety Board.
Prepares revisions to the Part 35 General Operations Manual as needed, submits the proposed revisions to the Harrisburg Flight District Standards Office , receives confirmation that the revisions are acceptable, distributes those revisions to all manual holders, and implements a communication or action plan to educate staff and assure revisions are followed.
Coordinates the timely correction of mechanical irregularities, discrepancies, and aircraft maintenance schedules.
Develops and implements standards and policies for aviation personnel.
Ensures prompt reporting, filing and follow-up action on accident and incident reports to the FAA, NTSB, PADOH, risk management, and other designated hospital personnel as needed.
Ensures the preparation and maintenance of FAA required records, proficiency records, pilot training files, pilot currency, flight schedules, duty time records, reports, and correspondence pertaining to flight operations activities.
Ensures the maintenance and revision training manuals, General Operations Manual, Minimum Equipment List, Aircraft Airworthiness Inspection Program, Operations specifications and aviation policies.
Participates with program leadership in the development and maintenance of a program safety culture and the FAA aviation Safety Management System.
Conducts interviews, hiring, and dismissal of aviation personnel in accordance to policies and procedures and FAA regulations where applicable.
Approves or delegates schedules for aviation personnel, including assigning Pilot-in-Command duties.
Meets the requirements of FAR part 9 and part 35 to hold the Director of Operations position on a FAA Air carrier certificate.
Works in a patient care environment in and around aircraft and is exposed to possible infectious diseases and chemical toxins. Position may require sitting for long periods of time in a helicopter or in an office environment. Ability to lift a minimum of 50 pounds. Exposed to non-conventional motion, noise, vibration, jet fumes, and extreme temperatures. Working conditions in or near aircraft and/or an aircraft hangar environment on a daily basis and may be exposed to loud aircraft noise, fumes, gases, odors, dust particles, and mechanical and electrical hazards. Travel may be required. Accountable for satisfying all job specific obligations and complying with all organization policies and procedures.
