Performs dental examinations, diagnoses, and treatment planning.
Provides comprehensive dental care to patients of all ages, including pediatric patients.
Provides routine and emergency dental services including general restorative procedures, crown and bridge construction, removable prosthetics, uncomplicated endodontics, and minor oral surgery.
Initiates and interprets x-ray and diagnostic tests.
Administers and prescribes anesthetics and medications.
Refers patients for specialty care, as appropriate.
Educates patients on oral health, hygiene practices, and preventive dental care.
Collaborates with Dental Hygienists and other dental professionals to ensure optimal care.
Maintains accurate and up-to-date patient records using electronic dental/health systems.
Collaborates with the Dental Director to maximize clinic productivity and scheduling procedures, and toward establishing guidelines for treatment and care.
Participates in Quality Assurance/Quality Improvement and Risk Management activities and initiatives. Utilizes reports from QA/QI/RM monitoring of quality measures to provide leadership for continuous quality improvement on the practice team.
Qualifications:
Graduation from an accredited dental program with DDS or a DMD
Current, valid, unrestricted license to practice dentistry in the State of Virginia
Current, valid, unrestricted DEA license & Basic Life Support (BLS)
Three years general dentistry experience preferred & FQHC experience preferred
