The Child Life Clinical Coordinator functions as part of the department leadership team providing mentorship, competency development, and evaluation. Provides departmental leadership in the managers absence. Performs the duties and responsibilities of a child life specialist through age-appropriate therapeutic play activities and other experiences to minimize the negative emotional and development impact of hospitalization. Supports all department day to day operations, scheduling, policy development, regulatory compliance and adherence, and all department goals, programs, and initiatives. Develops, executes, and evaluates the effectiveness of all Child Life Programs in the Muma Children’s Hospital to meet the psychosocial needs of hospitalized children. Oversees and supervises the student internship/practicum and training programs for volunteers and new team members. Responsible for performing job duties in accordance with the mission, vision and values of Tampa General Hospital.
Bachelors Degree in Child Life, Child Life Development, or a closely related field
Certified Child Life Specialist (CCLS) required
BLS required within 60 days of employment
A minimum of 3 years of experience working with hospitalized children is required.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and ability to relate well with people of diverse backgrounds.
