Rochester, NY - University of Rochester Medical Center (URMC) seeks an accomplished, collaborative nursing leader to serve as its next Vice President, Chief Nursing Executive, University of Rochester Medical Center and Chief Nursing Officer, Strong Memorial Hospital (CNE). This position offers a dynamic, passionate, and innovative nursing executive the unique opportunity to lead nursing at one of the nation's leading academic institutions for nursing and medical professionals. This position will be key to URMC's success as it continues to grow and expand as a system and strive for excellence as a leader in academic medicine. The CNE will also serve as the Assistant Dean of Clinical Affairs in the School of Nursing.
URMC and UR Medicine (the clinical enterprise) form the centerpiece of the University's medical research, teaching, patient care, and community missions. As one of the nation's leading academic medical centers, URMC ranks among the top quarter of U.S. medical centers in federal research funding, has an overall academic and clinical enterprise budget of approximately $5.2 billion, and houses the flagship hospital, Strong Memorial Hospital, an 897-bed quaternary care facility that includes the Golisano Children's Hospital and the Wilmot Cancer Center. In addition, URMC includes the School of Nursing, School of Medicine and Dentistry, and many research institutes. UR Medicine includes seven affiliate hospitals throughout the region. Three of the hospitals under the UR name, including Strong Memorial, are Magnet-designated.
Reporting to the President and CEO of Strong Memorial and Highland Hospitals, the CNE is responsible for the nursing practice and professional nursing standards and nursing operations for Strong Memorial Hospital, Golisano Children's Hospital, and Wilmot Cancer Institute. They will lead the alignment and execution of the vision and long-term plan for professional nursing practice (including advanced practice nursing). The CNE will work with UR Medicine hospital leadership to align nursing practice, nursing education, and nursing professional development in all settings. The CNE will also collaborate with academic nurse leaders in enhancing transitions from student to practice, developing effective education pathways that address nursing and health care workforce needs and advancing the nursing research agenda. Additionally, the CNE directly oversees the respiratory therapy program at URMC.
The successful candidate will be a seasoned nursing leader with a track record of success in a high-performing academic medical center or a teaching hospital of significant size, as well as experience in a Magnet-designated institution. This leader will bring strength in building teams and a productive, nurturing culture. They will be a collaborative leader and clear communicator with the ability to foster relationships and drive change. A leader who brings a soft yet powerful approach, and a passion for excellence that is unrelenting. A master's degree in nursing is required; a doctoral degree is strongly preferred. An additional related degree in areas such as healthcare administration or business is highly desired.

The pay range for this position is $325,000 – $475,000. The referenced pay range represents the University's good faith and reasonable estimate of the base range of compensation for this position. Individual salaries will be determined within the job's salary range and established based on (but not limited to) market data, experience, and expertise of the individual, and with consideration to related position salaries.
