Fred Hutchinson Cancer Center is an independent, nonprofit organization providing adult cancer treatment and groundbreaking research focused on cancer and infectious diseases. Based in Seattle, Fred Hutch is the only National Cancer Institute-designated cancer center in Washington.

• Perform all functions related to roles and responsibilities as a clinical dental hygienist in the management and periodontal therapies of medically complex patients, including but not limited to oral assessment (mucosal, dental, periodontal), dental prophylaxis, scaling and root planing, soft tissue curettage, topical and local anesthesia, radiographs, fluoride varnish and subgingival antimicrobials as directed by Oral Medicine Attending Providers and under rules and responsibilities governed by Washington State Licensure.
• Provide patient/family education, motivation and support relative to oral hygiene, oral complications and their management and post treatment guidelines and recommendations.
• Annual licensure renewal with appropriate continuing education requirements, compliance with all Washington State and Fred Hutch rules, regulation and educational requirements including but not limited to Blood Borne Pathogens, General Education, HIPPA, Integrity and Compliance, JACHO.

Responsibilities

• Assess patient medical condition and current medical status.
• Assemble all information required for patient intake.
• Assess patient oral condition relative to the medial condition and status .
• Perform limited head and neck assessment.
• Perform oral assessment (mucosal, dental periodontal, oral hygiene).
• Perform topical and local anesthesia, dental prophylaxis, dental scaling, soft tissue curettage, expose radiographs, apply fluoride varnish, topical and subgingival antimicrobials.
• Provide oral hygiene instruction, oral complication and management information, post treatment guidelines and recommendations.
• Perform other tasks/ responsibilities as required ( form completion, room turnover, phones and assistance as needed)

Qualifications

Required:

• Graduate of Accredited Dental Hygiene Program
• Washington State Dental Hygiene License
• 5 years of clinical hygiene experience
• BLS AHA Health Provider Card (or equivalent course, such as by the American Red Cross) and renewal required every two years (BLS required by law for this position)
• Clinical excellence - strong, consistent hygiene skills, effective
• Ability to provide meaningful education, information and motivation, concepts and skills
• Possess integrity; Be reliable, flexible, timely and motivated; provide accurate information, efficient with time and motion; focused and attentive to detail.

The hourly pay range for this position is from $52.36 to $82.75, which includes the per diem differential, and pay offered will be based on experience and qualifications.
