Learn more about Vail Health here.About the opportunity: Responsible for overseeing, guiding and directing laboratory activities; including but not limited to; ensuring timely, accurate and precise patient test results, budget management, compliance with CLIA regulations, establishing/maintaining laboratory policies and procedures, supervising laboratory personnel and performing medical technologist duties. What you will do:Develops and manages laboratory procedures; identifies goals, maximizes efficiency, aims to maintain short testing turnaround times, and addresses challenges as they arise. Establishes and maintains departmental policies and procedures, objectives, OSHA Rules and Regulations, HIPAA practices, environmental and infection control standards. Ensures adherence to quality assurance which includes but is not limited to: reviewing daily QC completeness, maintenance and temperature logs, corrected reports, quality improvement reports, reviewing instrument error logs, reviewing patient mean reports, ensures required calibrations are complete as required and reviewing QC ranges.Establishes and maintains adherence to CLIA Standards of '88.Maintains required records verifying that proficiency testing samples are tested in the same manner as patient samples.Maintains laboratory supply by conducting inventory, ordering/receiving/distributing supply accordingly or directing these activities.Evaluates new equipment and reagents for technical suitability and cost effectiveness and ensures service contracts are renewed and kept current.Develops and provides on-going training/education to laboratory staff, providers and clinical assistants. Responds to needs and questions concerning the laboratory and provides troubleshooting to providers.Oversees selection, training, motivation, development, and coaching of the laboratory staff and can perform job responsibilities of the Laboratory Technicians. What you will need: Experience:3 years of laboratory training or experience, or both in non-waived testing, in the designated specialty or subspecialty areas of service for which the technical consultant is responsible required.Minimum of 1-year previous supervisory experience preferred.License(s):Certified/registered Medical Laboratory Technologist required.Medical Laboratory Scientist preferred.Certification(s):ASCP certification or equivalent.Computer / Typing:Microsoft & Excel knowledge.Lab technology proficiency.Must possess, or be able to obtain within 90 days, the computers skills necessary to complete online learning requirements for job-specific competencies, access online forms and policies, complete online benefits enrollment, etc.Must have working knowledge of the English language, including reading, writing, and speaking English.
