VA Western New York Healthcare system (VAWNYHS) is currently recruiting for an enthusiastic Physician Hematology/Oncology to join its staff. VAWNYHS is academically affiliated with the state University of New York (SUNY) at Buffalo and provides medical, surgical, mental health and long-term care services through a range of inpatient and outpatient programs.
The staff Hematologist/Oncologist will be responsible for, but not limited to the following duties:
Provide expert consultation and treatment to patients in the outpatient Hematology/Oncology clinic; as well as provide feedback and consultation with the other services within the Buffalo VA Medical Center.
The Physician will evaluate, triage, and prioritize requests from Primary Care providers and others for outpatient hematology/oncology subspecialty consultations.
They will obtain medical histories, conduct physical examinations, order and evaluate appropriate laboratory testing, and plan and prescribe treatment for patients.
The Hematologist/Oncologist will coordinate medical management and care with Primary Care providers and other medical personnel in a multidisciplinary health care delivery system.
The Hematologist/Oncologist will perform administrative tasks as assigned, such as peer reviews and Ongoing Professional Practice Evaluations (OPPE).
Provide Hematology/Oncology on-call services as assigned.
This position is eligible for the Education Debt Reduction Program (EDRP), a student loan payment reimbursement program. Approval, award amount (up to $200,000) and eligibility period (one to five years).
Work Schedule: Monday through Friday; 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM, Tour will be discussed during interview process.

The service area encompasses western Colorado and eastern Utah regions and includes the primary VAMC plus four satellite clinics.
