The role you’ll contribute:
The Lead Pharmacy Technician, working under the supervision of a licensed pharmacist, performs delegated duties, tasks and functions associated with the provision of pharmacy services within the hospital. In addition, the Lead Pharmacy Technician assists in supervising the activities of the pharmacy department's team of Pharmacy Technicians and assists in the maintenance of the pharmacy's operations.

·Actively performs all pharmacy technician functions and maintains active proficiency in: standard work parameters, operational programs, dispensing and compounding systems
·Purchasing and Contract Compliance
·Accurately leads the appropriate utilization of medication automation, technology, and computer systems
·Manages ADC inventory and maintains proficiency to trouble shoot cabinet issues
·Accurately leads the management of medication inventories and the preparation and dispensing of patient-specific medication doses
·Prioritizes work load, organizes work flow, and checks accuracy of pharmacy technician activities
·Facilitates medication safety practices by identifying and reporting potential medication errors such as look-alike sound a-like medications
·Maintains continuous learning and pharmacy practice
·Prepares and delivers medication in an accurate, safe and timely manner
·Collaborates with other pharmacy staff
·Supports current and established staff training experiences and competencies
·Instructing, Modeling, Coaching, and Facilitating
Qualifications
The expertise and experiences you’ll need to succeed:
KNOWLEDGE AND EXPERIENCE STRONGLY PREFERRED:
·Strong verbal and written communication, organizational, problem-solving, and customer service skills
·Flexibility and willingness to adapt to changes as necessary
·Ability to interact constructively with supervisors, peers, and external customers
·Ability to follow direction from formal management personnel and work well under direct supervision of a pharmacist
·Ability to identify, follow up, and resolve discrepancies
·Ability to identify, resolve, and mitigate pharmacy operational or program issues
·Ability to keep accurate and complete records
·Knowledge of medical terminology
·Ability to teach pharmacy technician students, if applicable
·Proficiency in hospital computer system technology and automation
·Knowledge and competence in aseptic techniques, hazardous drug compounding and USP 795, 797 and 800 standards (if applicable)
·Initiative to keep abreast of and communicate developments in the provision of pharmacy services
·Ability to lead and assign staff in performing activities and tasks to support the pharmacy.
·Leadership qualities essential to operate effectively within the institution and advance the practice of pharmacy
·Must be able to read, write and speak conversational English
·Basic computer skills and knowledge of Microsoft Office
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCEREQUIRED:
·High School Grad or Equiv and 3 years experience
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
·Bachelor of Science degree, preferably in a physical science, business or healthcare
·Leadership experience
·Practice experience in an integrated health care system of three or more hospitals in the system
·Data Analysis experience
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
·PTCB - Certified Pharmacy Technician
·Institute for the Certification of Pharmacy Technicians
·KS Pharm Tech License
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION: REQUIRED
·Sterile Compounding Certification, if applicable per state legislation
·Applicable State Pharmacy Technician Registration (RPT)
