Job Description
We are looking to a Manager, Plumbing & Plant Mechanic to manage the administrative and technical activities of the Plumbing and Mechanics Shops to ensure efficient and effective operations, quality service and customer happiness. Provide technical expertise on construction, maintenance, repair, operation and alteration of plumbing, mechanical, medical gas, and sprinkler/standpipe systems, and mechanical equipment for all MSK sites and properties.
Role Overview:
- Lead the maintenance, repair, operation and alteration of MSK's Plumbing Systems, Mechanical Systems, Medical Gas systems, Sprinkler/Standpipe systems, and Mechanical Equipment
- Develop, maintain and execute global life-cycle management and preventative-maintenance programs to ensure compliance with manufactures procedures, NFPA, ASHE and ASHRAE standards on all plumbing and mechanical equipment.
- Develop, lead and implement infrastructure replacement/upgrade projects for MSK equipment and utility systems and coordinate work with all trades involved. Develop projects and budgets soliciting prices from contractors and vendors on projects.
- Run, guide and advise the functions and activities of employees in the Plumbing and Plant Mechanic shops. Participate in hiring process and responsible for training, orienting, and providing ongoing feedback and appraising performance.
- Provide continual mentorship to encourage compliance with JCAHO standards and with other Federal, State and Local regulatory agencies. Recommend training requirements to keep all staff at the highest level of skill vital to meet organizational needs and objectives.
- Provide mentorship, insight and ongoing feedback as part of the Design Team. This will include new construction projects as it relates to Plumbing, Fire Suppression, Medical Gas, Mechanical Equipment selection and related components
- Maintain and update databases/utility drawings to ensure an accurate inventory and diagrams of the centers' plumbing, medical gas, mechanical equipment inventory and fire suppression systems and related components.
- Provide in-field management and direction to engineers, contractors, and vendors as well as verify adequacy of utility systems.
- Assist and coordinate construction-related shutdowns (Plumbing, Medical Gas, Fire Suppression) and system alterations with associated project teams.
- Interpret and read blue prints, diagrams, sketches, operating and maintenance manuals, and manufacturer's specifications is required.
- Apply mathematical skills of advanced math (equations, geometry) in order to yield solutions to engineering deficiencies
Key Qualifications:
- NYC Fire Suppression Piping License Required
- ASSE 6020 Medical Gas Inspector Required
- Association of Energy Engineers Certified Energy Manager preferred
- 10+ years of experience in maintenance and engineering of Plumbing, Sprinkler and Mechanical systems, with a minimum of five (5) years in healthcare environments with staff of 15 or more.

- Ability to read, write and communicate in English
