The Literacy Instructor is responsible for instructing out-of-school youths and adults in remedial education classes, preparatory classes for the General Educational Development (GED) test, literacy, or English as a second language. The Literacy Instructor is responsible for ensuring the educational goals of the students are obtained
The Literacy Instructor must demonstrate the leadership necessary to ensure the mission and Core Values are known and lived and must model the expected behaviors and performance. She/he must work in a collaborative manner with all other departments to ensure the overall mission is achieved.
Requirements:
· Minimum of two (2) years experience in literacy education, adult education and/or basic education skills, with some classroom instruction.
· ESL Certification and/or college degree in a related field
· Ability to read, write and speak the Spanish language.
· Computer literate, ability to access, set up, and facilitates the computer programs that enhance instruction.
One year experience in classroom instruction, preferred.
· Volunteer experience, preferably with a non-profit organization.
· Communication skills – both verbal and written.
· Apply effective problem solving skills, set priorities and resolve issues.
· Ability to develop new procedures or activities that contribute to the enhancement of department operations or achievement of goals.
· Ability to learn and apply new job duties or procedures and adjust to change.
C. Licenses, Registrations, or Certifications:
· Teacher Certifications preferred.
