Required:

• Working knowledge of UC-wide Academic Personnel Policies (APM) and bargaining union contracts, and the procedures and practices that govern academic personnel administration.
• Working knowledge of local, i.e. DGSOM and/or department, voting and compensation plan bylaws, and the procedures and practices that govern academic personnel administration.
• Working knowledge of Compensation Plan bylaws including Outside Professional Activities and the procedures and practices that govern these.
• Demonstrated analytical skills to conduct analysis, develop recommendations, and resolve issues.
• Ability to effectively prioritize work and manage divergent needs.
• Ability to handle sensitive information and/or situations and maintain strict confidentiality.
• Ability to meet deadlines despite frequent interruptions.
• Ability to compose business, personnel, and/or payroll correspondence.
• Excellent oral and written communication skills to effectively relay and obtain information, explain policies and procedures, and establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with diverse audiences, including faculty, staff, and students.
• Ability to work collaboratively with staff, managers, and colleagues within and outside DGSOM.
• Working knowledge of benefits and retirement programs, preferably in a university environment; ability to interpret and communicate complex benefits information to employees at all levels.

Preferred:

• Bachelors Degree  or equivalent experience in an HR related field.
• Knowledge of UC Path/PeopleSoft or equivalent payroll system.
• Knowledge of Opus/Interfolio or equivalent dossier system.
• Knowledge of Academic Recruit or equivalent recruitment system.
