Position Summary

Essential Functions

• Communicates with participants in a sensitive manner regarding lifestyle, medical history, nutritional practices and income

• Performs clerical tasks, including answering phones, prequalifying prospective clients, scheduling appointments, making reminder calls, etc.

• Uses participant-centered techniques to provide personalized nutrition education/referrals and to educate pregnant women on how to initiate and sustain breastfeeding and to help breastfeeding clients solve common breastfeeding problems

• Assesses participants health and nutrition status using Washington State WIC Assessment Questions

• Ability and willingness to meet with families individually in clinic and virtually.

• This position may work in any clinic location operated by MHS WIC Services across Pierce County, use of personal vehicle is required

Requirements

• High school diploma or GED

• Must complete WIC Certification training within 6 months of hire

• Must obtain a Washington State MA-R (Medical Assistant Registered) within 6 month of hire

• Bi-lingual preferred but not necessary (Spanish/English or Russian/English)
