W.G. (Bill) Hefner Salisbury Department of Veteran Affairs is seeking a highly motivated AP/CP Board-Certified Pathologist to be the Chief of Pathology and Laboratory Medicine.

Duties

• Serves as acting chief of the service
• Participates in and attends medical center committees and/or teams
• Participates in various facility programs designed to enhance and improve the delivery of patient care services
• Demonstrates commitment to high quality customer service, including specific measures identified as performance goals by the Medical Center.
• Adheres to all information security and privacy measures set by VHA and the Medical Center.
• Annually develops and evaluates professional and personal goals. Identifies individual professional learning needs and participates in formal programs, workshops, seminars, conferences, as well as self-directed learning activities, completes facility wide mandatory education yearly
• 10 Direct reports
• On service receiving new cases 1 day every two weeks
• No teaching responsibilities are required but optional through our academic affiliate, Wake Forest Baptist Health. Opportunities to serve on the IRB, R & DC, and IACUC are also available.

Requirements

• At least three (3) years of CLIA Lab Director experience in a high-complexity laboratory, including leadership and direct supervisory experience.
• Must be Board Certified
• ACOS PLMS directly supervises ten (10) of the current 107 lab staff. ACOS is required to have autopsy, cytology, and surgical pathology clinical privileges. Three (3) high-complexity labs are located in Charlotte, NC, Salisbury, NC, and Kernersville, NC.
• With a standard workweek from Monday to Friday, 08:00 am to 04:30 pm, this role offers a balanced work-life, allowing you to excel in your professional and personal commitments. All Pathologists share calls on a rotating basis. Call is by phone.
• Histology operates M-F 08:00 am 4:30 pm.
