The role you’ll contribute:
GENERAL SUMMARY:
The Imaging Clinical Supervisor is responsible for daily operations and outcomes of assigned Imaging area/modality ensuring smooth and efficient flow.Assists with patient workflow, department decision-making and dissemination of information to the rest of the team.Ensures services are provided using professional standards with a strong focus on customer service excellence.Increases level of understanding and educates on new processes as they evolve.Meets with staff, physicians and leadership to ensure service levels are maintained.Adheres to AVHHL Compliance plans and to all rules and regulations of all applicable local, state and federal agencies and accrediting bodies.Actively participates in outstanding customer service and accepts responsibility in maintaining relationships that are equally respectful to all.
PRINCIPAL DUTIES AND JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:

Performance:Supervises daily operation of assigned modalities including oversight of staff performance, exam quality, positive patient experience (patient throughput with on-time starts) and all other matters pertaining to patient care in Imaging.Utilizes knowledge of assigned modalities, product lines, equipment and policy and procedures relating to the supervision of Imaging Services.Provides encouragement, education, support and training to motivate staff in meeting departmental and compliance standards.Supports team, answering process questions and addressing employee and patient concerns.With input from modality lead if one is in place, and as assigned, completes staff performance reviews, job competencies and educational assessments.
Workflow:Develops staff schedules, coordinates coverage for scheduled days off and call-outs.Assists in departments when busy, relieving staff for lunches/breaks, and performs Imaging exams (for the modality in which they hold a license or specialty examination) when needed.Provides troubleshooting/problem solving and makes decisions for assigned work area.Provides superior customer service to patients, physicians' offices and fellow employees at all times. Informs technologists and patients of any delays striving to ensure on-time start of exams.Utilizes patient service recovery resources when appropriate.
Financial:Performs time and attendance adjustments, monitors overtime, absenteeism and tardiness.Flexes staffing on a daily basis to meet labor standards.Tracks productivity and holds staff accountable for meeting goals.Ensures correct billing practices for Nuclear Medicine, Pet and off-site clinic locations by monitoring yesterday posted charge report and charge reconciliation report daily in Epic.
Communication:Attempts to resolve patient issues delivering excellent customer service before escalating to manager. Provides constructive and instructive feedback to staff in a positive manner.Represents Imaging in mandatory meetings/committees disseminating information to staff as requested by leadership.Regularly meets with staff, physicians and leadership to ensure service levels are maintained. Helps Imaging department director with proper positive messaging to the team when there is a change or anything new that is asked or required of them.
Safety: – Ensures the safety of patients and staff by following standards that promote safe practices.Ensures self and team adhere to infection control and radiation standards (proper placement of dosimetry badge) taking appropriate action where non-compliance is evident.Utilizes understanding of dosimetry process and may be responsible for radiation badge exchange program.Completes initial training (prior to handling both radiopharmaceutical and pharmaceutical waste) to include proper handling and transport of waste, and proper selection, use and disposal of personal protective equipment.
Quality:Oversees the quality of service provided by the Imaging team.With assistance from the modality lead, ensures staff is following established Image Quality criteria and exam guidelines.Counsels’ individuals when quality images are not achieved.Ensures equipment has met all quality control requirements and contacts appropriate personnel when repairs or routine maintenance is needed.
Process Improvement (PI):Participates in PI activities/teams understanding the department performance trends and established standards.Develops new methods and shares best practices with the team.Self-motivated to increase level of understanding and educate on new processes as they evolve.
Team:Assists with interviewing and hiring process and oversees the training and orientation of new employees.Ensures staff are adhering to on-stage vs. off-stage expectations.Immediately responds to inappropriate staff behavior and provides coaching and possible counsel with manager or director. Encourages and motivates team as evidenced by positive team morale/culture, low absentee and tardiness rates and your voice survey results.
Regulatory: Oversee regulatory requirements for Nuclear Medicine, Pet and all off-site clinic locations to meet all state and federal agencies, ACR and The Joint Commission requirements. This will require monthly visits to the off-site locations that provide diagnostic imaging.
Performs other duties as assigned by department director and manager to ensure the smooth operation of the department.
Qualifications
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:
Associate degree or certificate in Radiologic Technology or Nuclear medicine
Minimum of 5 years of experience in Imaging
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE PREFERRED:
Bachelor's degree in business or healthcare-related field
Two years of previous lead, coordinator and/or supervisory experience in a clinical or medical setting
LICENSURE, CERTIFICATION OR REGISTRATION REQUIRED:
American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) in Radiography or NMTCB in Nuclear Medicine
