Nurse LineJob Summary
Under minimal supervision manages the clinical, personnel and financial operations of the assigned area in compliance with Policies and Procedures set forth by DHHA, Department of Nursing and the appropriate area. Supervises and directs all related activities in the assigned area according to the standards, philosophy, and objectives of the agency and department. Manages all aspects of environmental control, staff personnel assistance to physicians, material, and equipment. Analyzes and evaluates service for quality improvement. Works directly with the reporting leader to maintain departmental budget.
Essential Functions:
Communicates hospital, organizational and departmental information to staff while providing an effective three-way conduit between staff, administration, patients and their families. (10%)
Implements organizational and department policies and practice guidelines. (10%)
Sets and meets area, department and agency goals. (10%)
Coordinates, implements, monitors and evaluates division/area-level customer service plan. (10%)
Manages programs using quality, safety, cost-effectiveness and measurable outcomes as criteria for success. (10%)
Partners collaboratively with the multidisciplinary team to problem-solve interdepartmental and organizational issues. (10%)
Participates in Nursing and other organizational-wide committees. (5%)
Collaborates proactively with other departments and services to maximize area effectiveness and Lean Initiatives. (5%)
Ensures appropriate staffing levels and skill mix among staff. (5%)
Leads an environment that empowers staff to participate actively in setting goals, defining programs and evaluating outcomes. (5%)
Conducts timely performance evaluations, coaching each employee at least annually to set attainable professional goals. (5%)
Collaborates with area educator to identify training and staff development needs of employees and ensures appropriate training provided. (5%)
Recognizes positive behavior and contributions to the staff, using praise, appreciation and rewards. (5%)
Interviews and participates in the recruitment and selection of staff. (5%)
Education:
Bachelor's Degree BSN Required
Work Experience:
1-3 years three years of nursing experience Required and
Licenses:
BLS-Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) - AHA - American Heart Association Required and
RN-Registered Nurse - DORA - Department of Regulatory Agencies Required
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of regulatory standards and compliance requirements.
Skilled in budget preparation/financial analysis, decision making regarding appropriateness of care review, assist with research design planning, and analyzing and generating quality improvement reports.
Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively with other internal and external team members to ensure timelines are met.
Ability to act as a resource to staff for clinical, operational and administrative questions.
Able to effectively recruit, develop, and retain staff.
